About City

Baltimore the largest and independent city in the state of Maryland which has been founded in 1729, named after Lord Baltimore. The city has one of the largest seaports in USA, and is also known as Charm City. The name Charm City has been given for improving the city's reputation. The city is located in the central area of the state. Baltimore was once a leading manufacturing center and later it became a service oriented economy. The Piedmont Plateau and the Atlantic Coastal Plain, divides Baltimore into lower and upper city. Baltimore city has a total area of 92.052 square miles.  Baltimore played an important role in the Second war of independence in defending British attack on Baltimore. One can spend hours delighted by the marine creatures at the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center with its interactive displays and the Baltimore Maritime Museum for more on the city’s history.
